FAQ

Where do I come in to see the show?

We are located at Council Rock High School South in Holland PA. Once you arrived, you will head in through the entrance labeled "AUDITORIUM." Once there our members will greet you and direct you to the auditorium. Once we open the doors you will proceed to your assigned seat listed in your ticket.

How do I audition?

Come to our general membership meeting or show up on the first day of auditions. Both of these events are done for all our 3 shows, so if you weren't able to attend the meetings for the fall show you can always come join us for the winter or spring show! There will be a form or notecard to fill out which is how we will contact you for callbacks.

Do I have to sing at my audition?

You do not have to sing for your audition if you don't want to. However, this will most likely make you unable to get a leading part (usually applies to musicals)

Do I have to dance for the audition?

Yes everyone must learn the dance audition and perform it unless there is a health issue.

Who will be in the room for my audition?

There are 2 ways in which we do singing auditons at south. One is Terror Auditions, which is where you get up on stage and sing your prepared piece in front of everyone auditioning. The other way we do it is Closed auditions where you sing in a private room with just Lori (the director of the program), Mr. Axler (Choir teacher) and the student directors. The style of audition is determined by Lori and usually changes per show.

What do acting auditions look like?

During acting auditions you will get to choose from a bunch of different snippets of scripts to choose from you and a partner of your choosing will perform it with 10-20 minutes of preperation. We call this cold reads. We also with time permitting do a lightning round where everyone has a chance to go up and do another script but with no prep time and at a quicker pace.

What are callbacks?

Callbacks are when the casting team would like people to prepare and provide material for a certain role they could potentially be. Just because you get a callback does not guarantee you any role and if you don't get a callback it doesn't mean you still can't get a named role.

Can I be in the show and do tech?

Yes! In fact we actually have a whole host of different tech departments that you can be a part of! These include costumes, props, hair and makeup, as well as others like sound, lights, and backstage tech (basically designing and building sets). All of our tech departments work together with the actors and boards to put together each show, and we follow the same rules as everyone else! Joining tech is always encourged!

How do I join tech?

Come to our general membership meeting to meet the heads and sign up! Or reach out to any head or coard board member via Golden Wings social media or in person. Also most times you can find google forms to join a specific team on our Facebook page.

How often do we practice?

There is usually rehearsal every day after school. But depending on what role you have and what tech team you are apart of that might not be the case! For example ensemble members may only be called 2 or 3 times a week and Lights team might only be there every 3 weeks before the show. So it really depends on what you do and commit to.Â
